Qeparo is situated on
the western slope of the Gjivlash Mountains, at around 450 meters above sea
level. In ancient times, Qeparo was arranged on the slope of Kasteli. Later on,
its occupants settled somewhat farther down on the Gjivlash Slope, southeast of
the slope of Kasteli, to be closer to their fields and to get away from the
winter's cold. From 1957 onwards, Qeparo was divided into the Old Village and
the New Village.
Try not to miss the old village of Qeparo with the modest old
lanes between the old stone houses with a delightful sea view. The village has
an Orthodox Church devoted to Saint Demetrius, dated 1760, one of the nine
houses of worship in Albania committed to that Saint. Qeparo is one of the most
loved vacation destinations in Albania. It is especially suggested for family
vacations. Loud music is seldom heard here. A few inns and a couple of
guesthouses serve the vacationers' pleasure along the small shorelines.
