The Mirahor mosque is one of the religious cultural monuments of Albania. This is the oldest mosque in the country, constructed in 1484 by Iljaz Hoxha aka Iljaz Bey Mirahor. He played a significant role in the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 and later founded the city of Korçe. As the mosque was built on the existing church, its walls show cultural elements of Byzantine times. Its minaret was destroyed during the communist era and restored in 2014. You can visit the mosque before and after prayertime. The community members are happy to show you the interior of the building.
