Eqrem Cabej, born in 1908 died in 1980, was
one of the most renounced experts in the field of Albanian-language, literature
and ethnology. He completed his university degrees in Austria, and returned to
Albania to become a secondary school teacher.
During World War 2, he was sent
to Rome. He returned to Albania in 1944, and continued to work as a teacher. In
1947, he was appointed a professor of linguistics and literature at the
University of Tirana. He is one of the founders of Academy of Sciences of
Albania.
He continued his career as a researcher until he died in Rome at the
age of 72.
